Why do you think the study you chose is considered classic in the field of psychology? Do you think that study should have been performed? That is, does the knowledge gained from this study justify the deception or discomfort experienced by the subjects? What value did the study impart on society? In your opinion, if the experiment’s negative impact on subjects was only temporary, does this fact diminish the ethical problems to an acceptable level? What standards of ethics would you follow if you were a researcher? Section eight of the APA’s Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct focuses on research.
