Hands-On E-Learning Tool
Instructional designers often create very large documents which contain images, audio, or other multimedia content. To exchange such documents, the designers often compress or “zip” the documents using the Winzip program. After one developer “zips” a document and sends it to another, the recipient can use Winzip to “unzip” or decompress the document.
If you are not already using Winzip, visit the site and download and install the trial version of the software. Using the software, create a .zip file that contains one or more documents. Then, unzip the file and save the documents to a new location. Discuss your experiences with the download and installation process. Then, describe possible uses for Winzip as an instructional designer and as a student.
