For your discussion post this week, select one of your favorite companies and research how it uses social media. In your post, identify the social media networks the company uses (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, etc.) and discuss the marketing strategies used. Is the company a frequent poster? Does it run contests or giveaways? Identify at least one way the company could improve its strategies.
In your response to your classmates, compare how the company you chose uses social media with the ways your classmateâ€™s chosen company uses social media. What strategies do they share? How are their strategies different?

One of my favorite companies is Pink. Pink is a company owned by Victoria’s Secret and sells a variety of apparel, swimwear, and under garments. This brand uses a majority of the social media websites such as Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and Pinterest. I noticed that Pink appears to post much of the same stuff on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. The company posts about new arrivals, funny gifs relating to shopping, and sales they are having. On Instagram they also post on IGTV which are basically instagram exclusive videos created by the brand that show employees talking about how to style their products, give fashion advice, and talk about deals or sales they are having. On pinterest the brand pins a lot of images posted by real people wearing Pink in the real world and provide inspiration on how to wear their clothes. All of their social media platforms have millions of followers and post on their social media daily. They do not seem to do giveaways however they do have some contests. Right now they are running a campaign called the â€œGRL PWR Projectâ€ in which 10 women will be awarded $25,000 to grow and expand their own businesses. One way that I believe they could improve their strategies is to engage with consumers more.

The company I have chosen to discuss is The Beard Struggle. They are a relatively small company that manufactures and sells grooming products for men, more specifically beards. The company is very active on social media with accounts on all three of the major outlets (Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter) as well as an account on Pinterest and a YouTube channel.
The Beard Struggle makes multiple posts a day across all of their accounts. I have noticed that the posts are usually the same on Facebook and Instagram and mainly highlight the products and its benefits. These posts are usually funny and attention grabbing. The other three accounts utilize a different approach. The company often posts â€œhow toâ€ videos for not only their products but for beard grooming in general that are posted on the companyâ€™s YouTube channel and linked to the other two platforms. The company doesnâ€™t run any contests or giveaways through their social media accounts but do offer discount product codes through email after the consumer has made an initial purchase.
I believe one strategy the company could improve on is their utilization of contests, giveaways and discount codes through their social media accounts. This could potentially attract new customers to the company as well as keeping active customers engaged on the companyâ€™s social media accounts.
